Truecaller is a smartphone application which has a collection of all the contacts (mobile phone-book) of its users (People who use this application) from all around the world, and the public phone directories. When a person downloads and start using Truecaller, this app automatically uploads all the contacts of that person to its database. So when you search a number on Truecaller, it shows the name someone saved in his/her phone-book. How to Hide Number from Truecaller Directory
In order to deactivate your truecaller’s account, follow these easy steps:
Android
Open the app >> tap the people icon in the upper left corner >> Settings >> About >> Deactivate account.
iPhone
Open the app >> tap the gear icon in the top right corner >> About Truecaller >> Scroll down >>Deactivate Truecaller.
Windows Mobile
Open the app and tap the three dots in the bottom right corner >> Settings >> Help >> Deactivate account.
Once you have deactivated your Truecaller account, you can proceed to removing your number from the service.
Here’s how:
- Rush to the Truecaller Unlist Page.
- Enter your Phone Number with the correct country code. For example: +911140404040 or +919999999999.
- Tick one of the reasons for unlisting, or type your own different reason for removal/ hide number from truecaller in the Other blank space.
- Type the correct captcha as shown there.
- Finally, Click Unlist.
Truecaller claims that it removes the numbers under unlist in between 24 hours after getting a request. This doesn’t always mean that your number will stay off the service forever. I had removed my mobile number around one year ago, but it now started appearing again on the service a few days ago even though i have never used Truecaller. Your best bet is to keep checking with Truecaller users whether they see your contact details. If they don’t, you are good to go. If not, you can always ask them to unlist your phone number.
