Most of people leave the Wi-Fi and bluetooth ON even in the areas where there is no availability of Wi-Fi network. Now-a-days, third generation phones are making their presence in market. Mobile devices like iPhone 5s, Blackberry and other models have a 3G/4G feature that is useful for fast browsing experience. You should Turn off 3G/4G feature if you are not using it. You can still even browse internet using the GPRS service with your phone.

#2. Vibrating alert is another big power consuming feature in the mobile phones. Use of the vibrating alert is good when you are in some kind of meeting or in a library, otherwise you should turn off vibrating alert. Moreover, there is no any need of keypad tones and you can also reduce ringing volume of the phone if you are not working in the sound polluted environment.

#3. Your Mobile Phone Display also uses alot of power to illuminate. Reduce the screen brightness to the lowest possible level where you can see things on your screen clearly. Moreover, all the phones have this time-out feature that sets the display light out time to low value such that it will turn off quickly after your use.

#4. Keep your phone screen as simple as possible, using much screen-savers and or live wallpapers may look pretty but you must also remember that they use the battery power to stay running. If you want to extend your bagttery, then you should turn off screensavers and stick to a simple wallpaper.

#5. In most of the smartphones, we can load number of applications and utilize them. You should terminate applications as soon as you finished work on them. Pressing end key do not terminate the application, they still remain running in background that uses up the battery power. You can see all the background applications running on phone by long pressing the menu key & terminate all the applications that you don’t need.

#6. Games are the most power hungry applications, they use alot of power and most of games do not allow the screen to get dim or turn off. Play less games to extend battery life. Even listening to songs and radio on phone, also uses a lot of power. So, think before you start playing games or listening songs if you are on low battery.

#7. If your phone supports the automatic updates of emails or browser then change update intervals let us say every 1 hour or so to save more battery power. Try using few email accounts and disable automatic update feature if you do not really need it.

#8. Network coverage is another important factor that comes in front when speaking about the battery power. If your phone is in a weak network coverage area or in no network area then switch-off your phone or keep it in flight mode to extend battery life. In the less or no network area, phone uses a lot of battery power to stay connected to the network.

#9. Turn off the Bluetooth option when you don’t use it. Most of people ignore to turn off Bluetooth even if they are not using it.
